CUT003-3: Sichuan and Yunnan

 

Introduction

Sichuan is known as the "Land of Abundance" and has three places listed as the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Visitors to this province can experience a wide variety of beautiful landscapes including plateaus, mountains, ravines, basins, hills, plains, rivers, lakes, hot springs, waterfalls and limestone caves.

Yunnan Province is endlessly fascinating. There are 25 different ethnic minorities in Yunnan, making it the most culturally diverse province in China. This multiplicity of cultures has endowed the province with a rich heritage that it shares with all who come to visit.

 

 

Sichuan and Yunnan

Sichuan and Yunnan are two of most beautiful procinces in China, this tour will lead you to visit the most beautiful city of these two province.

 

Day 1: Fly to Chengdu

Arrive in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province, habitat of giant pandas and city of cotton-rose hibiscus. Meet at the airport our tour guide and driver, transfer to hotel.

 

Day 2: Chengdu-Mianyang

In the morning, visit the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center, it has been created and imitates the pandas' natural habitat in order that they might have a the best possible environment for rearing and breeding. Then drive 42km for visit the Sanxingdui Museum, is recognized as the most important ancient remains of the Sichuan region for its vast size, its long history and its rich culture. Arrive in Mianyang in the end of the afternoon. Overnight in Mianzhou.

 

Day 3: Mianyang-Jiuzhaigou

Depart for Jiuzhaigou Valley in the morning, visit a Tibetan village Baima near Pingwu on the way. Arrive at Jiuzhaigou Valley in the end of the afternoon, you will stay 2 nights here.

 

Day 4: Jiuzhaigou

A visit day for enjoy in Jiuzhaigou, Jiuzhaigou Valley is a great masterpiece of nature having dreamlike scenery and abundant natural resources. It combines blue lakes, waterfalls, verdant forests, snow-covered mountains, and the folk customs of the Tibetan and Qiang peoples. This region covers more than 600 square kilometers (about 230 square miles), and includes areas such as Shuzheng Valley, Rize Valley, Zechawa Valley and Zharu Valley, etc. The main beauty spots such as calc-sinter lake groups, waterfalls, and other waterscapes, as well as 12 summits make Jiuzhaigou Valley a wonderful appearance.

 

Day 5: Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong-Maoxian

Drive to Huanglong Area in the morning, the Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area is located in Songpan County, in the northwest part of Sichuan Province, It was included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1992. The 'World Wonder' and 'Fairy Land on Earth' are names enjoyed by the Huanglong Area, which is well known for its colorful lakes, snow clad mountains, valleys and virgin forest. Arrive in Maoxian in the end of the afternoon.

 

Day 6: Maoxian-Taoping-Dujiangyan-Chengdu

Today, drive back to Chengdu, visit the Taoping village on the way, is the best-preserved village exclusively inhabited by Qiang ethnic group. Built in 111 BC, this ancient village has survived 2,000 years of erosion and stands well today. Its maze-like manner and durable architecture have earned it the moniker "the ancient castle in the East." Then drive to Dujiangyan and visit the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Built over 2,200 years ago, it still provides benefits for the people. The irrigation system was erected on the Minjiang River at the foot of Yulei Mountain. Arrive in Chengdu in the afternoon.

 

Day 7: Chengdu-Mt.Leshan-Mt.Emeishan

Drive to Leshan Mountain, visit the the Leshan Giant Buddha, it is a statue of Maitreya in sitting posture. The Buddha is located to the east of Leshan City, Sichuan Province, at the confluence of three rivers, namely, Min River, Qingyi River, and Dadu River. The statue makes itself the most renowned scenic spot in Leshan City. In December, 1996, the location of the Buddha was included by UNESCO on the list of the World Heritage sites. Then transfert to Emeishan Mountain, it is the highest one among all the famous sight-seeing mountains in China, visit the biggest temple in Emei, the Baoguo Temple. Overnight in Emeishan.

 

Day 8: Emeishan-Panzhihua

Set out in the morning, arrive at Leidongping after 52km's  trudge ba car.and then arrive at the peak, an altitude of 3099 meters by cable car. The weather permitting,we can overlook the MIn River, The Gongga Peak and the beautiful sunrise. Visit Huazang Temple and then go down the mountain by cable car,visit the Wannian Temple.Have a rest in Qingyinge. Drive to the railway Station after supper. Go to Panzhihua on soft sleeper train(4 soft in 1room). Overnight on the train.

 

Day 9: Panzhihua-Lugu Lake

Arrive in Panzhihua, our tour guide and driver will pick you up at train station, then transfert to Lugu Lake in the Ninglang county, a county of Moso minority.

 

Day 10: Lugu Lake-Lijiang

Visit the Lugu Lake by boats and visit the local family of Moso. Afternoon drive 210km to Lijiang. a city inhabited by Naxi people. Have some free activities in the old city, such as walking to the central part – Sifangjie: the streets are paved with quadrate slates, and several streams wind through. Many two-stores houses are built along the streets, forming a large, busy market.

 

Day 11: Visit in Lijiang

In the morning sightseeing in the city: Heilongtan Park, has a large pool with a five-arch bridge over it and a pavilion on a beautiful background of snow-covered and pyramid-shaped. The museum of Naxi. The Lion Hill, with the appearance looks like the sleeping lion, so named lion hill, there is a magnificent structure named WanGu tower was made of wood on the hill. Wanggulou and Mufu Palace. Free activities in the afternoon.

Day 12: Lijiang-Dali

Transfert 200km to Dali, the capital of Dali Bai Autonomous Region, famous for the Cangshan Mountains (4122m) and the Erhai Lake that extends 40 Km. About 80% of Bai people dwell in Dali, embracing Taoism and Buddhism. After arrive in Dali, do a city tour in the old Dali city.

 

Day 13: Dali-Kunming

Visit the symbol of Dali – the Three Pagodas, has a history of over 1,800 years; it is a record of the development of Buddhism in the area. Then trek to Zhonghesi Monastery of Taoism in Cangshan Mountains, then overlook the city of Dali and the Erhai Lake from here. Drive to the railway Station after supper. Go to Kunming on soft sleeper train(4 soft in 1room). Overnight on the train.

 

Day 14: Kunming

After arrival, full day tour to visit the Yunnan Stone Forest. Stone Forest (Shilin) a 270 million year old limestone Karst formation of tightly bundled gray rocky outcrops, a natural wonder acknowledged as "World Karst Landscape Museum", the Stone Forest show a variety of unique shapes such as sword, mushrooms, tower, pillar, castle representing the greatest miracle that the nature can present to human beings.

 

Day 15: Kunming – Europe

Check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport station to catch the flight to Europe.
