Introduction

Yunnan, located in the Southwest China, has a vast territory, magnificent mountains and rivers, and abundant natural resources. With an area of 390,000 square kilometers, Yunnan is the eighth largest province in China. It is an inland province, with Guizhou Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the east, Tibet Autonomous Region in the northwest, and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in the southwest. Outside China, Yunnan borders on Burma in the west; Vietnam and Laos in the south. With a long borderline, is the main passageway connecting China with the Southeast Asian nations.

Unknown villages in Yunnan

For this tour, Lugu Lake in Lijiang and Erhai Lake are very different attractions from other tours. The exotic Mosuo ethnic culture and Matriarchal Society around Luguhu Lake is very attractive for evert tourist.

Day1: Arrive in Beijing - Kunming
Fly to Beijing, and then fly to Kunming. Overnight in Kunming hotel.

Day2: Fly to Dali

Fly to Dali. Dali, the capital of Dali Bai Autonomous Region, famous for the Cangshan Mountains (4122m) and the Erhai Lake that extends 40 Km. About 80% of Bai people dwell in Dali, embracing Taoism and Buddhism. Visit the symbol of Dali – the Three Pagodas, has a history of over 1,800 years; it is a record of the development of Buddhism in the area. Then trek to Zhonghesi Monastery of Taoism in Cangshan Mountains. Then stroll in the old city of Dali. Overnight in Dali.

Cycle along the bank of the Erhai Lake, since it has a shape of an ear, it gets the name Erhai. It stretches 42km from north to south and 39km from east to west; the lake covers an area of more than 250 square kilometers and is 21.5 meters at the deepest. It is ranked the second place in Yunman Province and the seventh freshwater in the nation by area and water storage. And then take a ferry to visit the island in the lake. Afternoon sightseeing in Guanyinsi Monastery and Gantongsi Monastery, the pilgrim’s marvelous cassock aroused desire. Retune to the hotel.

Day4: Drive to Shibaoshan

Drive to Xizhou to see the free market and the houses of Yan family. Then drive 3 hours to Shibaoshan, is located at Jianchuan County in Dali. The scenery is wonderful, and rather unique in being adorn with red rock geomorphology. Then walk around there. Overnight in guesthouse.

Day5: Drive to Qiaotou

After breakfast, trek to visit the Shizhongsi Temple, constructed in the Nanzhao Kingdom (748-902) period and renovated during the Qing Dynasty. Then another hour to the Baoxiangsi Temple passing by Shiziguan Pass, this temple is the most scenic attraction of Shibao Hills, it has a reputation as the “Suspended Temple”. Lunch break near the monastery. Drive to Qiaotou in the afternoon. Overnight in guesthouse

Day6: Trek

Trek 8 hours (luggage with us): after breakfast trek 6 hours to a village on the mountain (on a rough road during the first 3 hours), from here we will see the Yulong Snow Mountains in the distance and the panorama of the Tiger-leaping Gorge beneath. Walk easily to a waterfall, and then walk to the highway, goes on trekking to the Halfway Inn in the direction to Hetaoyuan. Overnight in Guesthouse.

Day7: Trek

Trek in the middle section of the Tiger-leaping Gorge: half an hour to the Longdong Waterfall, an hour later to the top of the mountain (2445m), 40 minutes later to the Shanbailian Inn. After lunch, trek 1.5 hours in the gorge. Then drive to Xincun, trek 1 hour to the ferry and cross the river. Drive 20 minute to the guesthouse. Overnight here.

Day8: Drive to Guole Village

Drive to Guole Village, and trek 5 hours in Baoshan while our bus carry our luggage to Shitoucheng. The Baoshan is a small city that’s easily explored on foot. There are pockets of traditional wooden architectures still standing in the city area and some good walks on the outskirts of town. Overnight in Shituocheng, in local people’s houses.

Day9: Trek to Liuqing

Trek northward in the deep valley to Liuqing. It is a hard walk but with beautiful landscapes. Trek 6-7 hours to climb up 500 meters vertically, passing by some villages of Naxi people’s. Local people’s houses.

Day10: Trek to Labo

Trek 7 hours to Labo, taking a ferry on the way. Labo village is a ethnical Moso and Nakhi village. The Yangtze River lies at the foot of mountains.we will taking a ferry on the way for crosse the Yangtze River. Local people’s houses.

Day11: Trek to Zhuangzi

Mount up on foot from the valley of Jinshajiang River for 5 hours, and then trek 2.5 hours to Zhuangzi, a Mosuo village, surrounded by virgin forests. Local people’s houses.

Day12: Drive to Lugu Lake

Trek 6-7 hours to Yongning by the highway, the end of trekking. Drive 40 minutes to the Lugu Lake. The lake is like a beautiful pearl shining among the hills of the northwest plateau in Yunan. Overnight by the lake, guesthouse.

Day13: Stay on Lugu Lake

Visit the Lugu Lake by boats and return. Overnight by the lake, guesthouse.

Day14: Drive to Lijiang

Drive some hours to Lijiang, a city inhabited by Naxi people. Have some free activities in the old city, such as walking to the central part – Sifangjie: the streets are paved with quadrate slates, and several streams wind through. Many two-stores houses are built along the streets, forming a large, busy market. Overnight in Lijiang.

Day15: Cycle in Lijiang

Cycle in Lijiang, have a visit to Yufengsi Monastery, a great center of learning in ancient times, where you will meet members of the Red Hat Tibetan Buddhist sect. And visit Muducun Village, also a village of Naxi. Overnight in Lijiang.

Day16: Visit in Lijiang

In the morning sightseeing in the city: Heilongtan Park, has a large pool with a five-arch bridge over it and a pavilion on a beautiful background of snow-covered and pyramid-shaped. The museum of Naxi. The Lion Hill, with the appearance looks like the sleeping lion, so named lion hill, there is a magnificent structure named WanGu tower was made of wood on the hill. Wanggulou and Mufu Palace. Free activities in the afternoon. Overnight in Lijiang.

Day17: Fly to Kunming

Check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport station to catch the flight to Kunming.
