SHR004-3: Xi’an Experience

 

Introduction

Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province, lies in the middle of the Guanzhong Basin with the Weihe River to its north. As one of China's seven ancient national capitals, it was the capital of 12 dynasties over 1,000 years, thus Xi'an has a great number of precious relics and historical sites. Xi'an was the start point of the Old Silk Road

 

 

Xi’an Experience

Xi’an is the capital of the Shaanxi province. Famous as the world-class city of history and culture.

Xi'an was home to 13 Imperial Dynasties. Journey with us as we open the history book bringing Xian's history and culture to life.

 

 

Day1: Arrive in Xi’an

Our guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area at airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.

 

Day2: Xi’an

Pick you up at your hotel, and then visit the Forest of Stone Steles Museum. A fascinating collection of inscribed stone tablets (steles), from very ancient to quite modern (Han-Qing Dynasties, 206BC-1911). All kinds of calligraphies and scripts tell stories, poems, classics, reports from around the Empire. Other exhibits include early sculptures and objects from Imperial tombs. Then visit the City Wall. Finally visit the Shaanxi Historical Museum.

 

Day3: Xi’an

Today we first visit the Terracotta Warriors. Discovered accidentally in 1974, this incredible army of over 7000 soldiers, archers, horses and chariots in full battle array has guarded Emperor Qin's tomb since 210BC. Each figure is unique, and the painstaking repair and excavation continues in 3 pits which are protected inside huge hangars. Then visit Banpo Museum. Remains of a 6000 year old Neolithic community discovered in 1953. Today there are 2 exhibition halls, displaying items from the site such as stone tools, spinning wheels, pottery and daily living utensils. The third Site Hall (a bit over half an acre) demonstrates the residential, pottery making and burial sections of the village, including huts, kilns and tombs. Evening Show at Tang Yuegong: The show that presents the palace dances and sings in the Tang Dynasty when Xian was the capital of ancient China.

 

Day4: Xi’an

Visit Qianling Tomb which Built in 684 AD, the mausoleum is the joint tomb of Emperor Tang Gaozong (Li Zhi, 628 A.D.-683 A.D.) and Empress Wu Zetian (624 A.D.-705 A.D.), the only Empress in Chinese history. Then visit Famensi Temple. It locatest to the west of Xian city and sits in the 120km Fufeng county. The temple has a history of 1700. Finally we will visit the tomb of Yangguifei, concubine of Emperor Tang Minghuang.

 

Day5: Departure

Be transferred to the airport for your onward flight to the next destination.
